Born and lived in Uganda Kampala, after some five years, we then as a family moved toTurks Island in the West Indies, where we spent another five happy years, interrupted by having to go to boarding school in the UK. The island is seven miles long and half a mile wide, but was and probably and is still very beautiful and unspoilt. Travel in those days was via B.O.A.C and BEA! Lots of stop offs on the way to the UK, included Nassau, Florida and Bermuda.
A move again to Athens in Greece for three years - whilst still at boarding school in the UK, and was lucky enough to have have visited some of the islands! Then a move to what was then Yugoslavia, where we lived in Belgrade. Not great, but got to see some of the beautiful eastern coastline of Serbia and had some interesting trips back to the UK, via rail from Bern in Switzerland to finally being delivered back to school in a Rolls Royce! (not ours!!) in Buckinghamshire. Three brief years in Botswana in Gaberone and after finishing school, qualified in the Hotel and Catering Game in Cambridge before leaving for Johannesburg in South Africa.
That was a long time ago, but that wander lust for travel has never left me. A career in Hotels and Resorts throughout South Africa and a some corporates, brings me to today. Now married for ever, three kids (all boys) of who have now left home. With some entrepreneurial try-outs, the time has come, for the return journey doing something I want to do as opposed to have to do!! That me , with alot of stories to tell in- between!!
